What to Eat in Çatalca: A Local Food Guide

28 July 2026 · 4 min read

Çatalca is one of the rare districts of İstanbul still closely tied to farming and livestock. That shows in its cuisine: fresh produce that is hard to find in the city centre is part of everyday life here. A short look at the flavours you can try during your stay.

The village breakfast tradition

The region is best known for its village breakfast culture, which peaks at weekends. Village cheese, butter, honey, homemade preserves and freshly baked bread are the constants of these tables. The breakfast served at our property offers a variety close to this local approach.

Dairy and cheese

The Thrace region is known for cheesemaking, and Çatalca is part of that tradition. Alongside white cheese, kaşar and curd varieties are available from local producers. Yoghurt and butter are also notable local products.

Meat and the barbecue culture

With livestock farming widespread, meat is an important part of daily cooking in the region. Grilling produce from local butchers on the barbecue in your private garden can be an enjoyable part of your stay. A barbecue area is standard in all our rooms.

Seasonal produce

Sunflower, wheat and various vegetables are grown around Çatalca. Depending on the season, you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables from roadside producer stalls. Honey and walnuts stand out in autumn, fresh herbs in spring.

Dining at the property

For times when you would rather not go out, our restaurant and snack bar are available. Stays are offered on a breakfast-included basis; for dinner you can use our restaurant or set your own table at the barbecue in your garden.

If you are planning to explore the area, our Çatalca travel guide also has suggestions on places to see.
